The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) has selected DSM (Parsippany, NJ) as the Company of the Year. The award recognizes DSM’s outstanding halal compliance, implementation and program of label control for halal logo and markings. Stephan Heck, DSM’s senior director quality management, accepted the award at a banquet dinner on behalf of the company at IFANCA’s 17th International Halal Food Conference in Illinois.
The number of halal consumers is increasing and has now reached 1.6 billion, making halal food, beverage and dietary supplement products one of the fastest growing consumer segments in the world. DSM has liaised with halal certification bodies to develop and implement a halal policy and management system to ensure its nutritional ingredients meet the stringent halal requirements.
