The nutricosmetics, or beauty-from-within, market, is a diverse one with a wide range of applications. Nutricosmetics consumers are frequently interested in skin health, hair health and nail health, seeking natural ways to improve their appearance using nutritional supplements. Now, emerging clinical research is finding that omega-7 fatty acids, in particular, could be the next big nutricosmetics innovation.
A recently published paper by ingredient supplier Puredia in Irvine, CA claims that omega-7s are the next-generation beauty ingredient with clinical substantiation. A monounsaturated fatty acid naturally found in the skin and liver, omega-7 is rich in palmitoleic acid, which has been shown to support skin hydration, elasticity, and overall appearance.
Puredia recently launched its branded omega-7 ingredient Omegia, derived from sea buckthorn oil. In clinical studies, Omegia has been shown to increase skin hydration, improve skin elasticity, boost collagen levels, reduce wrinkles and pore size, and even ease eczema symptoms.
