Sami-Sabinsa Group Opens New Production Facility for Active Nutraceutical Ingredients

Sabinsa’s parent company, Sami-Sabinsa Group (India), inaugurated a new state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility Sami-Sabinsa Group.cdrat Hassan in the State of Karnataka (India) on March 17. Dr. Muhammed Majeed, chairman and founder, Sami-Sabinsa Group, inaugurated Unit-1 of the facility, Sami Nutraceuticals Pvt. Ltd. and senior executives attended. The unit, located on 10 acres, is the eighth manufacturing facility of the company.

The facility, built with an investment of $18 million (U.S.), has the capacity to produce 88 tons of active nutraceutical ingredients (ANI) and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) per annum for the global market. The Unit-I of the facility will produce 23 different ANIs and APIs and intermediates, including Calebin-A, Resveratrol, SabiWhite, Pterostilbene, Cosmoperine, 1, 2- Hexanediol, 1,2-Octanediol, Diindolylmethane (DIM), lndole-3-Carbinol, FerulicAcid, Urolithins,  etc. According to the company, the manufacturing facility is equipped with 18 reactors (including eight glass-line reactors), two hydrogenators, and other specialized equipment such as agitated nutsche filter dryers (ANFD), centrifuges, and Rotocone Vacuum Dryers.

The SamiNutraceuticals facility will be one of the cornerstones of our expansion strategy, enabling the company to bring more new innovations to market.”

Sami Nutraceuticals houses fully equipped quality control and process development labs. An important feature of this new facility is its zero liquid discharge (ZLD) capability, which minimizes the production-associated ecological footprint, the company stated. The facility has a clear location advantage and easy access to ports on the east and west coasts of India.

The new facility will provide employment opportunities to more than 200 workers, both directly and indirectly. Unit II of the facility is nearing completion and is being built on 15 acres of land. It will house three production blocks—one for curcumin production and two for multi-purpose herbal extracts.
