Women In Nutraceuticals (WIN), the non-profit spearheaded by a cohort of global nutraceutical leaders, has announced its formal launch, with a Win_Logo-Logo-Full-Color-RGBvision to inspire, empower and motivate women in the global nutraceutical industry to achieve personal and professional success.

Non-GMO Project

The non-profit organization champions the cause of women in the nutraceutical industry to achieve equal opportunity and representation of women in the boardroom and C-suite as well as maximizing funding for women-led businesses, and championing more women in science and research initiatives in female populations.

“The 2021 Women in the Workplace report showed that only 86 women to every 100 men are promoted to first-level manager, and women are under-represented in leadership roles across the nutraceutical industry,” said WIN President Heather Granato. “The lack of female leadership representation is a disservice to the industry as women represent the majority of consumers and consistently add significant value when they hold influential positions. WIN was formed to amplify women’s industry standing, and provide them support, resources, and tools to achieve professional and personal success.”

WIN’s founding members represent organizations from around the globe including the United States, Europe, Asia and Australasia. The executive board comprises:

Chairperson: Karen E. Todd, Vice President Global Brand Marketing, Kyowa Hakko
President: Heather Granato, Vice President, Partnerships & Sustainability, Food EMEA at Informa Markets
Vice President: Jan Mills, CEO, Artemis International, Inc.
Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer: Doug Reader, CEO, Arizona Nutritional Supplements
Secretary: Lynda Doyle, President & CEO, Avant Nutrition, LLC.
Directors at Large:

  • Karen Howard, CEO & Executive Director, Organic and Natural Health Association
  • Julia Wiebe, Managing Director, red otc – a Finzelberg company

In 2022, WIN is focused on establishing bench marking data on women’s roles in the industry, helping increase the percentage of women holding leadership roles, assisting with securing funding for female-led businesses and ensuring female representation in research. The organization will also foster connections through networking events and education.

WIN will have a voice in industry trade show and conference education events to further its mission. In fact, WIN was represented during a Main Stage session at the global industry event Vitafoods Asia “Addressing Gender Parity in Science and Research” featuring Granato; Annie George PhD, head of science & research at Biotropics Malaysia; Kriti Chaudhary, head of science & research at Biotropics Malaysia; and Nyx Chong, business development & marketing lead, APAC at Kyowa Hakko Bio Singapore. The panel session is available on demand.
