Women In Nutraceuticals Promotes Gender Equity at Vitafoods Europe

by Shari Barbanel | May 3, 2023

Women In Nutraceuticals (WIN), the non-profit spearheaded by a cohort of global nutraceutical leaders and advocates for
gender parity in the industry, will have a significant presence at Vitafoods Europe May 9-11 in Geneva, Switzerland.

  • On May 9, 1-1:30 p.m. in the Vitafoods Insights Theatre H70, WIN Co-founder and President Heather Granato, vice president, partnerships & sustainability, food EMEA at Informa Markets (U.K.), will give a debut presentation of new benchmark data on gender representation in the C-suite and leadership positions, as well as insights on how this compares to other industries and, more importantly, how together the industry can achieve gender equality through equity and allyship. The survey was conducted by NEXT Data & Insights, and funded by Informa Markets, a WIN Platinum.
  • On May 9, 4:30-5:30 p.m. WIN will host the Gender Equity in Nutraceuticals Networking Event in the Sustainability Resource Center E280. Granato and Marie Tutein Brenøe, head of marketing, brand, and culture at Novozymes OneHealth, a WIN Gold Sponsor, will make welcome comments.

Win_Logo-Logo-Full-Color-RGB“Novozymes OneHealth is pleased to sponsor both Women In Nutraceuticals and this networking event,” Brenøe said. “In Denmark, where we’re headquartered, gender parity has existed in society and business for quite a while, so we see its benefits first-hand every day. In Novozymes OneHealth 65 percent of our employees are women, that everyday rethink tomorrow in human health. WIN’s gender parity mission is part of our mission to help people live healthier and better lives, it’s good for business, and the entire nutraceuticals industry and planet will benefit from a diverse workplace.”

Although WIN is not hosting the Women’s Networking Lunch on May 10, Lynda Doyle, WIN co-founder and board secretary, and CEO, Avant Nutrition, LLC, is speaking and Granato is moderating one of the panel discussions, focused on women in STEM. This event is already sold out, which demonstrates the strong interest in women’s future in the nutraceuticals industry.

“Last year’s Vitafoods Europe afforded Women In Nutraceuticals (WIN) the opportunity to initially launch our intentions around achieving gender equity in the nutraceutical industry,” Brenøe said. “It’s been an amazing year, and having the opportunity to not only release the findings of the gender representation survey, but also to gather our community of committed women and men to celebrate what we’ve accomplished and think about our future makes me quite grateful.”
