1st Place: ErinaPrime
Nammex, Gibsons, BC, Canada, (828) 989-8834, www.nammex.com
ErinaPrime is a 100-percent pure freeze-dried lion’s mane (Hericium erinaceus) mycelium powder standardized to 1 percent erinacine A (10 mg/g) with no grain, starch or fillers.
ErinaPrime was developed as a neuroactive mycelium ingredient with production optimized specifically for compound expression, consistency and analytical verification. The ingredient is cultivated through a proprietary submerged liquid fermentation process and processed post-harvest via precision freeze-drying to preserve the natural biochemical profile without extraction or solvents.
In a liquid fermentation environment, growth conditions like temperature, nutrient inputs and cultivation parameters are tightly regulated to direct mycelium toward targeted erinacine A expression. Every batch is reproducible and traced and verified. Submerged liquid fermentation is a renewable, responsible process that can be scaled endlessly under controlled conditions with minimal inputs.
Cognitive health has become one of the fastest growing segments in the supplement market, driven by consumers across every age group—students and professionals looking for focus and mental clarity and an aging population wanting to preserve memory and preserve long-term brain health.
Erinacine A is a potent neuroprotective compound found only in the mycelium of lion’s mane, not in the mushroom. It is one of the most clinically studied compounds in functional fungi with structure/function support for neurocognitive health. It may help support memory, focus and aid in stimulating brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF), two key proteins for neuroplasticity and brain cell communication. Other research shows support for healthy auditory function in aging adults, gut-brain axis and microbiome balance.
“The studies for this supplement within the neurocognitive and aging space are outstanding. I would recommend this to patients, because there really is only pros, and if anything, a neutral outcome versus cons,” Avena said.
“Leave it to Nammex to knock it out of the park on standards, specifications, and science,” Jacques said.

2nd Place: OkiOne
Nura USA, Irvine, CA, (949) 946-5700, www.nurausa.com; www.okione.com
OkiOne is made from Euglena gracilis, a clinically validated whole-cell microalgae developed to support healthy aging through simultaneous benefits across multiple physiological systems.
Human clinical studies have shown improvements in immune resilience, gut microbiome, bowel function, sleep quality, stress resilience, mood and cognitive performance. Additional evidence has shown support for metabolic health, natural killer cell activity and healthy inflammation.
OkiOne provides comprehensive superfood nutrition support through a highly digestible whole-cell ingredient containing naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids and its β-1,3-glucan, paramylon.
Euglena gracilis is cultivated in Okinawa, Japan—one of the world’s five original Blue Zones—the rare longevity hotspots where people live past age 100. Cultivation uses Okinawa’s mineral-rich water and subtropical sunlight in a highly controlled production system.
Through photosynthesis, Euglena captures carbon dioxide while producing nutrient-dense biomass within a small agricultural footprint. Cultivation scales without the land, irrigation and crop inputs of conventional agriculture, offering a path toward future food security. In 2019, it became the first ASC-MSC-certified algae.
“The clinical study was very interesting and detailed as to functional outcomes and mechanism. The world needs more sustainable produced superfoods, and this one brings the science and quality that Japan is known for,” Ebersole said.
“[Four] published studies, human, best science in this category. Not only increased NK cell activity decreased cold symptoms, but also beneficial effect on microbiome. Very interesting,” Myers said.
Sports Nutrition Category

1st Place: Caffinity
FutureCeuticals, Momence, IL, (815) 472-6853, www.futureceuticals.com
Caffinity is a sports nutrition ingredient that delivers clinically validated performance through a natural caffeine-polyphenol complex derived from the entire Arabica coffee cherry.
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human study involving trained cyclists, a 186 mg dose of Caffinity demonstrated benefits not typically associated with caffeine ingredients such as faster lactate normalization, metabolic flexibility support and more stable blood glucose during post-exercise fueling. Participants reported no increase in gastrointestinal discomfort during exercise.
For centuries, the traditional coffee production process discarded much of the nutrition from the coffee plant. FutureCeuticals has studied coffee fruit and developed a sustainable path that preserves the whole fruit. Unlike traditional harvests, the company’s fruit is handpicked in an eco-friendly process that captures and preserves all the benefits of the plant including the skin that contains free radical fighting polyphenols.
This process keeps it out of waste streams and concentrates its unique, powerful phytonutrients for better brain performance. It is also derived from coffee sourced from family-owned farms to support better opportunities for farmers and their families.
Research has shown the unique matrix formed between coffee and native coffee polyphenols cannot be replicated simply by combining purified caffeine with isolated chlorogenic acids.
“Good study showing supplementation promotes ergogenic effect, including total work performed and perceived exertion,” Bruno said.
“Interesting and solid proof of concept that caffeine can be improved on, and that there’s a molecular reason why polyphenols might enhance the benefit of caffeine,” Ebersole said.

2nd Place: CreaClear
Kaged, Irvine, CA, (775) 336-7295, www.kaged.com
CreaClear is the first creatine monohydrate that mixes 100 percent clear in solution, eliminating the gritty, sand-type texture. It is easy to mix into any beverage with no changes in taste or texture.
Many other brands of creatine monohydrate fall out of solution to the bottom of glasses and shakers within one to two minutes while CreaClear remains clear in solution for hours after mixing. Its solubility advancement makes it safe for consumers who have gastrointestinal (GI) problems when taking regular creatine monohydrate.
The ingredient is Informed Sport–Banned Substance Free Certified and features end-to-end supply chain traceability from raw material to finished product. Kaged maintains strict quality control with in-house batch testing, independent GMP (good manufacturing practice) certifications and third-party audits to verify origin and safety.
“CreaClear is a creatine monohydrate that has good solubility and delivers the same benefits as other creatine-containing products. It has better bioavailability and hence cellular energy and muscle recovery,” Henig said.
“CreaClear offers an impressive option for clear mixing of creatine monohydrate,” Bruno said.
Weight Management Category

1st Place: AKK001
Nutraland USA, Irvine, CA, (949) 788-7615, www.nutralandusa.com
AKK001 is a pasteurized postbiotic form of Akkermansia muciniphila (AKK) that supports gut barrier integrity through its outer-membrane protein Amuc_1100, which has been shown to remain stable and functional through pasteurization.
A new 90-day randomized, placebo-controlled clinical intervention trial was conducted on 60 overweight or obese participants using AKK001 and butyrate as tributyrin. Results demonstrated statistically significant and clinically meaningful reductions in weight (7.6 kg), body fat percentage (4.6 percent), GMI (3.2 kg/m2), waist circumference (8.5 cm), hip circumference (5.3 cm), abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness (6.3 mm), abdominal visceral fat thickness (12.9 mm), total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C and insulin.
Globally, 43 percent of adults aged 18 years and older were overweight and 16 percent were obese in 2022. Projections show overweight prevalence will reach 43.97 percent and obesity prevalence will reach 38.96 percent by 2040. In 2021, higher-than-optimal BMI caused an estimated 3.7 million deaths from diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancers, neurological disorders, chronic respiratory diseases and digestive disorders.
AKK001 is produced through an advanced, closed-loop precision fermentation process that operates entirely independently of traditional agriculture land and intensive water use. It is cultivated on a clean, 100 percent animal-free and plant-based media matrix that aligns with modern clean-label and vegan standards while eliminating agricultural pathogen risks.
Every production run begins with single-strain pure culture isolation and maintains absolute genomic identity and stability. Unlike traditional life probiotics, AKK001 remains completely stable at ambient conditions throughout global shipping and long-term storage. This stability eliminates refrigeration-related energy demands and logistics while offering a two-year ambient shelf life.
“Studies on this supplement are strong for a correlation between weight management and postbiotic usage. There were also no drawbacks on lean mass decreasing, which is a great marketing angle in the world of weight-loss medications,” Avena said.

2nd Place: AKK Probio
Maypro, Purchase, NY, (914) 251-0701, www.maypro.com
AKK Probio is a next-generation strain of Akkermania muciniphila (AKK) clinically shown to support healthy weight management through microbiome modulation. AKK is one of the few bacteria capable of metabolizing mucin, supporting its turnover and strengthening the mucus layer of the gut barrier.
Additionally, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), such as acetate and propionate, produced through AKK’s metabolism help support a healthy gut microbiome and maintain gut barrier integrity.
AKK Probio also provides two key proteins—membrane protein Amuc_1100, which has been shown to promote epithelial cell renewal and barrier integrity, and secreted P9 protein, which has been shown to stimulate L cells to release GLP-1.
Through these methods, AKK Probio supports healthy appetite signaling, body composition and metabolic function. Human clinical research demonstrated improvements in body weight, body fat, BMI, triglycerides and multiple metabolic biomarkers using both live probiotic and inactive postbiotic forms.
Its probiotic and postbiotic forms allow for diverse formulations across capsules, gummies, powders, beverages and functional foods. Chosen from more than 200 AKK strains, AKK Probio was chosen as the best to support gut and metabolic health.
AKK Probiotic is Self-Affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and is the first gut-derived AKK ingredient to successfully complete the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification process for both live probiotic and inactive postbiotic forms. It has been deposited in internationally recognized microbial culture collections across the U.S., Germany, Australia and China.
“The study contributes to the body of evidence on akkermansia in an important way,” Ebersole said.
Condition Specific Category

1st Place: BloomEase
Nexira, Rouen, France, +33 602033966, www.nexira.com
BloomEase is a scientifically proven botanical solution developed to help women manage premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and menstrual discomfort. It combines white yarrow extract with sustainably sourced marine magnesium to provide holistic support throughout the menstrual cycle for both physical and emotional symptoms.
It has demonstrated benefits across multiple dimensions of women’s well-being in a human trial involving 167 women across four menstrual cycles. Supplementation reduced menstrual pain and breast tenderness while also improving mood, stress, fatigue, sleep quality and overall quality of life. Eighty percent of participants reported satisfaction with the solution.
PMS affects many reproductive age women, but many remain dissatisfied with existing options that focus on isolated symptoms or rely on pharmaceutical approaches. BloomEase provides a validated, plant-based solution that supports women holistically.
The botanical component is carefully selected to ensure consistent quality, identity and purity with rigorous traceability throughout the supply chain. Every production batch undergoes quality control to guarantee reproducibility and compliance with food safety standards.
The marine magnesium is sourced through responsible production to preserve natural resources while delivering a highly concentrated mineral ingredient. Both components were selected to combine performance, safety and responsible sourcing.
“Most women experience a menstrual cycle, and with that can come unnecessary PMS symptoms. This evidence-based product is looking to combat an ongoing issue in the women’s health space,” Avena said.
“Great innovation for cycle support. Women need more intelligent options for this!” Jacques said.

2nd Place: Zenroot
OmniActive Health Technologies, Mumbai, India and Bridgewater, NJ, (908) 222-6317, www.omniactives.com
In clinical studies, Zenroot has been shown to support occasional feelings of anxiety, stress, mood and sleep quality. These benefits are increasingly relevant as consumers seek solutions to help manage the everyday pressures of modern life.
Whether balancing work and family responsibilities, navigating academic demands, or adapting to life transitions, consumers are prioritizing ingredients backed by science and manufactured to high standards for quality.
Zenroot’s low effective dose provides formulation advantages—particularly in taste-sensitive applications—as ashwagandha is known for its strong aroma and flavor profile that can be difficult to mask.
Ashwagandha is positioned to support customers as they navigate occasional stress, feelings of anxiety, or temporary mood and sleep fluctuations. The ashwagandha market is expected to grow at a 14.5 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2024-2028 and is expected to become the second highest-selling botanical in the U.S. in 2028.
As awareness and adoption continue to accelerate, quality, safety and trust must remain paramount. USP-verified, root-only Zenroot standardizes withanolide content using USP methods to ensure consumers receive what is stated on the label.
Zenroot is sourced from cultivated ashwagandha farms in India rather than wild-harvested plants. This helps support more sustainable agricultural practices while reducing pressure on wild plant populations. It is manufactured using a green extraction process that uses water and ethanol as solvents.
Published research shows just 125 mg of Zenroot (1.5 percent withanolides) is more bioavailable that other leading ashwagandha extracts standardized to higher withanolide levels at larger doses. The enhanced absorption is achieved with OmniActive’s proprietary Ultrasol technology, which improves bioavailability, solubility and sustainability.
“The studies provided have significant evidence toward a perceived reduction of stress and anxiety when taking the supplement, which can be a great alternative to traditional mental health medications (for those seeking),” Avena said.
“Nice studies shown bioavailability and alleviation of stress and anxiety symptoms at a lower dose of ashwagandha,” Bruno said.
Excipients/Non-Actives Category

1st Place: Algia 30% DHA Powder
Puredia, Hong Kong and Irvine, CA, +852 96297459, www.puredia.com
Algia 30% DHA Powder is a high oil load DHA powder made with Puredia’s proprietary CrystDry process. It solves a key limitation in DHA powders—low active content caused by heavy use of carriers.
Many conventional DHA powders contain only 10-20 percent DHA with the rest of the formula made up of maltodextrin, starch, protein and other inactive carriers. Algia is approximately 80 percent oil by weight and standardized to 30 percent DHA with no carbohydrate or protein bulking carrier.
The powder structure is built from the active itself. Algal-free fatty acids are complexed with calcium hydroxide to form a stable calcium-free fatty acid salt, creating a free-flowing powder while maintaining high oil load. The DHA also does not require pancreatic lipase hydrolysis before absorption.
In a preclinical pharmacokinetic model, Algia showed a 76 percent higher relative bioavailability than conventional algal DHA with Cmax up to 1.81 times and AUC up to 2.26 times. After 24 hours, DHA accumulation increased by 128 percent in the liver, 100 percent in the heart and 54 percent in the brain.
The DHA in Algia comes from microalgae grown by controlled fermentation—not from fish. Since DHA is produced at the base of the food chain, it does not accumulate marine contaminants such as mercury, dioxins or PCBs, which are often a problem with fish oil.
Microalgae are a renewable and consistent source of long-chain omega-3s. They can be produced year-round without depending on wild-catch fishing, seasonal harvest variation, or marine stock depletion. The powder has a three-year shelf life and built-in oxidative stability. It is easier to store, transport and formulate, and has lower handling and cold chain requirements.
“This specific form of DHA has evidence to suggest benefits to in vitro development as well as lowering triglyceride numbers significantly, especially if the person taking it does not consume fish!” Avena said.
“Interesting technology whereby calcium crystallization converts algae oil into a DHA calcium fatty complex increasing its bioavailability by 76 percent. Quite impressive,” Henig said.

2nd Place: Nu-FILL
RIBUS, Sparks, NV, (775) 313-9303, www.ribus.com
Nu-FILL is a plant-based excipient that replaces microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) as a filler, binder and flow agent in capsules, tablets and stick packs. It is made from rice hulls, agave syrup and rice bran extract (listed as “Rice Syrup Blend” on ingredient panels). These are upcycled ingredients that would otherwise go to waste.
It adds bulk density and lowers the angle of repose in low-density powder blends to help eliminate the pre-compaction step often needed in capsule filling while improving dosing consistency. It replaces MCC, lactose or starch-based fillers at a 1:1 ratio.
Consumer demand for clean-label and recognizable ingredients keeps growing while MCC—a synthetic filler banned from certified organic products—has become a liability on ingredient panels and usually requires an anti-caking agent to help powder flow.
Nu-FILL is offered in both certified organic and conventional grades and lets brands produce organic-compliant capsules and tablets without sacrificing manufacturing consistency or performance.
“I feel like lots of consumers are starting to take a deeper look into their supplements, which this filler product can back up with science and effectiveness. It also gets clean label approval,” Avena said.
“A combination of plant ingredients: rice hulls, rice bran and agave syrup as an alternative to MCC in formulation. It appears to be a healthier alternative and fits clean labels better,” Henig said.
Established Ingredient: New Science Category

1st Place: Sabeet
Sabinsa Corporation, East Windsor, NJ, (732) 777-1111, www.sabinsa.com
Sabeet is Sabinsa’s standardized, nitrate-rich beetroot (Beta vulgaris) extract that delivers 548 mg (8.8 mmol) of dietary nitrate per day, which is the dose used in published clinical studies.
It works through the dietary nitrate-nitrite-nitric oxide (NO) pathway. Nitrates in Sabeet are reduced to nitrite by oral commensal bacteria, then reduced to bioactive NO under the low-oxygen conditions generated during exercise and metabolic stress. NO promotes vasodilation, healthy blood pressure, and microcirculatory perfusion to active skeletal muscle.
Two peer-reviewed clinical trials demonstrated 12 weeks of supplementation with Sabeet significantly improves carotid artery stiffness and arterial compliance, morphological muscle quality by ultrasound echo intensity, and rate of force development across early and peak phases in postmenopausal women aged 60-85.
Postmenopausal women face accelerated muscle decline, increased fall risk and reduced NO production due to estrogen loss. This leads to elevated cardiovascular disease risk, sarcopenia, reduced rate of force development, and increased falls.
Sabinsa is a vertically integrated supplier with direct oversight from botanical cultivation to finished ingredient delivery. Sabinsa controls around 60,000 acres to ensure sustainable, fair-trade sourcing of raw materials with full chain-of-custody documentation at every stage. Extraction, standardization and quality testing are conducted at GMP (good manufacturing practice)-certified facilities in India and the U.S.
Beyond the science, Sabeet meets clean-label expectations and is suitable across both powder and functional beverage formats—the fastest growing delivery systems for women’s healthy aging.
“Impactful nutrition solutions and supporting science for elderly are sorely lacking. This ingredient and the science brings a new light and expands on the existing demographic for the uses of beet nitrates,” Ebersole said. “The nitrate dose is aligned with the body of science on NO, vasodilation and other benefits for senior populations, so it is believable and aligns with the literature in a difficult population to improve on.”
“Very good science. Human clinical trial, menopausal women (60-85) an underserved population. Significant improvements in carotid artery stiffness. Two human trials. Benefits more than vascular health by improving circulation. Nice to see a cardio study done on women for a change,” Myers said.

2nd Place: Pronulife Effenergy
Glac Biotech Co., Tainan City, Taiwan, +886 963330504, www.glacbiotech.com
Pronulife Effenergy is a patented proprietary probiotic blend designed to support sports performance, muscle function, recovery and gut health through the gut-muscle axis. It was developed through advanced strain screening and supported by published scientific research.
The ingredient helps reduce exercise-induced fatigue and support recovery by modulating fatigue-related biomarkers such as lactate accumulation, creatine kinase and post-exercise inflammatory responses associated with exercise-induced muscle damage. It also supports gut microbiota balance, helps optimize the gut-muscle axis and contributes to metabolic regulation, nutrient utilization and exercise adaptation.
Effenergy is also relevant to the growing interest in GLP-1 companion nutrition and muscle maintenance during weight management. As GLP-1-based weight management continues to expand, consumers are more aware of the need to maintain lean muscle mass and functional strength during body weight reduction.
Effenergy offers a probiotic-based approach supported by clinical and preclinical evidence related to exercise performance, fatigue resistance, body composition and muscle-related outcomes. It can be incorporated into capsules, powder sachets, functional sports beverages and protein blends.
Its component probiotic strains—Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum OLP-01, Lactobacillus plantarum PL-02, and Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis LY-66—were originally isolated from the healthy gut microbiota of an Olympic gold medalist weightlifting champion. Developed through academic-industry collaboration with National Taiwan Sport University, these strains have undergone genomic sequencing, phenotypic characterization, culture preservation and functional evaluation.
Effenergy uses natural fermentation-based biotechnology rather than synthetic or stimulant-based active compounds. The biological manufacturing model supports efficient production, clean-label, and a broad application across various formats.
“The new research on the probiotic blend for treatment of primary dysmenorrhea is impressive given the popularity of the women’s health category,” Bruno said.
Biotics Category

1st Place: KABP Menopause
Kaneka Probiotics, Pasadena, TX, (510) 996-3567, www.kanekaprobiotics.com
KABP Menopause is the first and only probiotic blend designed to work with the body’s own estrogen, according to the company. Most menopause solutions focus on replacing or boosting hormones from the outside. Inside the gut is a community of bacteria called the “estrobolome” that quietly regulates how much estrogen the body recirculates and eliminates. As women move through perimenopause and menopause, this ecosystem becomes less diverse and less efficient.
KABP Menopause is a patented, precision-engineered blend of three strains (Levilactobacillus brevis KABP-052, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum KABP-051, and Pediococcus acidilactici KABP-021) selected for their ability to support the estrogen-recycling pathway. Rather than introducing synthetic hormones, it helps the body make better use of the estrogen already being produced naturally and continuously. It also helps relieve common symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances and mood changes.
Menopause is one of the largest unmet needs in women’s health. An estimated 75 million women in the U.S. are currently in perimenopause, menopause or post-menopause, with about 6,000 more reaching menopause each day. Millions of women are actively searching for safe products to help support transitional periods. More than 79 percent of peri and post-menopausal women already use botanical or dietary supplements to manage their symptoms.
KABP Menopause is manufactured in GMP-certified facilities with multiple qualified manufacturing partners in place to support chain flexibility and scalability as demand grows. Each of the three probiotic strains is registered with an international strain bank (CECT 7480, 7481, 7483) with a documented history of genomic characterization to confirm identity and consistency batch-to-batch.
“It is a blend of three specific bacterial strains that support estrogen regulation and thus help the body generate more estrogen without needing supplementation,” Henig said. “It is a novel approach and differs from the classical supplementation approach, which has its own downside. They conducted a nice but small clinical study supporting their hypothesis but clearly more studies are needed for its substantiation.”
“My feeling is that we are only at the beginning of hearing about the estrobolome and Kaneka is at the leading edge,” Jacques said.
“Interesting concept of probiotics for menopause designed to work with estrogen. Three probiotics selected specifically for their ability to support the estrogen-recycling pathway,” Myers said. “Clinically shown to work by supporting the gut-estrogen axis, also known as the estrobolome, the community of gut bacteria that regulates how much estrogen the body recirculates versus eliminates. Human clinical study showed significant improvements in estrogen levels after 12 weeks. Very impressive and novel.”

2nd Place: Inavea Portfolio
Nexira, Rouen, France, +33 602033966, www.nexira.com
Inavea is a precision prebiotic platform based on premium acacia-derived fibers to support healthy microbiome modulation, digestive comfort and metabolic health. The range combines robust science with customizable formulations and strong sustainability credentials.
Pure Acacia is a highly tolerated prebiotic to help increase daily fiber intake, support bowel regularity and promote a beneficial microbiota. Baobab Acacia is a synergistic blend that enhances gut microbiota balance, promotes beneficial bacteria taxa and supports metabolic health markers. Carob Acacia is formulated to increase microbiome diversity (primarily Prevotella and Roseburia) and stimulate short-chain fatty acid production for a healthier gut ecosystem.
Inavea easily formulates into beverages, bars, powders, snacks, and supplements thanks to its high solubility, neutral taste and processing stability. Consumers increasingly view fiber as a “hero ingredient” for regularity, satiety, metabolic wellness and gut health.
The demand is fueled by a persistent fiber gap, mainstream microbiome awareness and the GLP-1 era, where small portions must deliver higher nutrient density such as protein, micronutrients and fiber to support digestive comfort and regulation. Social media trends such as #GutTok and “fibermaxxing” are also accelerating high-fiber adoption among younger consumers.
Combined with a company-wide, low-carbon strategy that reduced the carbon footprint per ton of finished product by 9 percent between 2019-20222, Inavea demonstrates how scientifically validated ingredients can deliver measurable environmental and social value.
“An example in how a botanical ingredient can be scientific and sustainable at the same time,” Ebersole said.
“A gentle fiber supplement with evidence to back it up. Made from acacia root which can set it apart from others on the market,” Avena said.
