INNOBIO Ltd. (Dalian, China) has announced that its entire line of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) products has obtained self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for use in food and dietary supplement applications. Under provisions of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, administered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), INNOBIO’s CLA products were submitted to extensive review by a panel of experts to thoroughly examine all aspects of process and production.
After a comprehensive evaluation of research studies and toxicology data, the panel concluded that INNOBIO CLA products are safe for use as ingredients in a variety of products including beverages, confectionery products, dietary supplements and nutritional bars. According to the FDA, self-affirmed GRAS status is awarded to any substance that is generally recognized among qualified experts as having been adequately shown to be safe under the conditions of its intended use and is manufactured in accordance with current good manufacturing practices, (cGMPs). INNOBIO CLA products that now have self-affirmed GRAS status include CLA free fatty acid and CLA triglyceride at different concentrations, both available in liquid and powder forms.
“INNOBIO has been manufacturing and distributing high quality CLA ingredients to the global dietary supplement market for over 10 years. We are excited now to offer these same high quality products for health and fitness to the food industry,” noted Dr. Wu, CEO of INNOBIO Ltd. “Our CLA products are recognized in the supplement industry as the high quality, cost effective and safe alternative to higher priced brands.”
