Pines International (Lawrence, KS) is stepping up to help victims of Hurricane Dorian, the deadly category 5 storm that hit the Bahamas in September. Pines is donating a pallet of Green Duo Capsules to provide the people displaced by Dorian with green superfoods nutrition.

Co-founders Ron Seibold and Steve Malone, who started Pines in 1976, have been contributing a portion of their harvests to international feeding programs since they began. “We’ve sent millions of servings to malnourished people in Africa, Central America and the United States,” said Seibold. “Our foundation also makes financial contributions each year to feeding programs in local Kansas communities. We recognize that with adequate nutrition, many health conditions can be reversed and prevented, and we’re committed to helping our brothers and sisters in their time of need.”

The pallet that was sent contained a total of 98 cases of Green Duo. That’s 1,176 bottles at a retail price of $32.25 each or a total of $37,926 worth of dark green vegetable nutrition. Each bottle contains 43 servings of dark green veggies. Each serving is equivalent to a serving of spinach, kale or other greens. That’s means this pallet contains 50,568 servings of dark green vegetables.

The shipment is through the Children’s Feeding Network (www.childrensfeedingnetwork.org), which is one of the organizations Pines has supported since it first started its food donation program to hungry and nutritionally-deficient people worldwide in 1980.
