Dr. Nora Khaldi is a mathematician with a PhD in molecular evolution and bioinformatics. Her research has focused primarily on protein evolution and comparative genomics. Throughout her career, Khaldi has disrupted the status quo by introducing new ways of thinking, big data and new algorithms. Prior to Nuritas, she was the first scientist to show gene transfer between multi-cellular species, putting into question many of the phylogenetic methods in use at the time.
Khaldi has developed a multitude of innovative software throughout her research career that are used to this day by research institutes and companies in more than 70 countries. Khaldi has led international research teams around the world, in both academic and industrial settings, and has a proven record in new health-benefiting molecule discovery and commercialization.

Khaldi: The Magnifier NπΦ is Nuritas’ proprietary AI platform built specifically for peptide biology. Unlike general-purpose AI, every layer of the Magnifier was trained on biological outcomes.

Khaldi: Peptides are gaining consumer awareness, and with that newfound awareness comes confusion and conversation. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that are biologically active and highly targeted, directing cells to repair, regulate, and protect the body.
To help consumers differentiate peptides, Nuritas is highlighting SmartPeptides—bioactive peptides discovered using AI from natural whole food sources. These peptides work in the human body through active biological signaling, providing health benefits. SmartPeptides are clinically studied in targeted human trials and are used in functional consumer goods.
NIE: Research seems to be important to Nuritas. Talk about some of the recent studies and research projects.
Khaldi: Clinical research sits at the core of how Nuritas validates its peptide discoveries, and several projects are currently underway or in the pipeline:
• PeptiStrong and healthy aging (with Liverpool John Moores University [LJMU]): Nuritas has launched a new clinical research collaboration with Professor Graeme Close, a leading authority in sports nutrition and human physiology at LJMU. The study investigates how PeptiStrong, our fava bean-derived bioactive peptide, supports muscle health, strength, and physical function in adults aged 60–85—building on PeptiStrong’s existing body of clinical evidence in active adult populations, which has already shown improvements in strength recovery, muscle fatigue and muscle energy.
• MetaboTwin (with Wageningen University & Research and TU Eindhoven): Nuritas is an industrial partner in MetaboTwin, a four-year international research consortium building the world’s first Human Dietary Digital Twin—a model designed to predict how individual bodies metabolically respond to real-life meals, including different protein sources and meal timing. Nuritas is contributing products for clinical trials alongside its bioactive expertise.
NIE: The company recently launched Nuritas Green Week. What was the motivation behind the launch?
Khaldi: Great Big Green Week is the United Kingdom and Ireland’s largest celebration of community action for climate and nature, and in support of it, we’ve launched Nuritas Green Week. It’s a dedicated week of sustainability initiatives, employee engagement and environmental commitments.
