In the not-so-distant past, a beloved family pet with an ailment or issue that was outside the norm, could find little relief. Whether an itchy rash, a food allergy or a nervous personality, pets—like people—have health issues outside of what was traditionally treated in the world of veterinary medicine.
In more recent years, however, that’s changed. As more studies have been done and more research has been made available, pets too can enjoy some of the benefits that may come from herbal and botanical treatments.
This isn’t just good news for pets and their owners though, but for natural supplement manufacturers and retailers as well. According to the “Pet Herbal Supplements Market Summary” via Grand View Research, “The global pet herbal supplements market was estimated at $895.0 million in 2023 and is projected to reach $1.79 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 10.6 percent from 2024 to 2030.”
What’s the most popular natural product for pets? The survey found that multivitamins and minerals dominated the category in 2023 with the highest market share overall going to dogs. Not surprisingly, North America had the largest market that same year.
The herb and botanical market is one that is continuing to see strong growth—both for humans and their furry friends.
