Collagen remains an important ingredient in the hair, skin, and nail market. For those who are wary of taking natural health supplements, several foods may help produce collagen naturally.

Bone broth is known as a source of collagen. as are some red meats like pot roast, brisket, and chuck steak, said an article at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Red meat, however, isn’t recommended as part of a long-term healthy diet, the article noted.

Other edible sources of collagen include the bones and skin of fresh and saltwater fish, as well as gelatin. And eggs, dairy, legumes, and soy are thought to nurture collagen production. Zinc and vitamin C help with collagen production as well. Eating nuts and seeds, and citrus fruits, bell peppers, and tomatoes among other zinc and vitamin C-rich foods may help collagen be produced in the body.
